driving into the sunset

I had a very long day.

I was up at 5:00am for work.

I worked in the hot and humid sun until 2:00pm.

Then I had to drive from New York to Pittsburgh - a 6.5 hour drive - with no radio and no air conditioning.

My day ended at 8:30pm.

I started thinking about how I should be complaining, and that it had been a long day.

But I can't stand complainers.

So out of shear boredom, I listed all of the things I was grateful for that day.

I was relieved my 1st event went smoothly.

I was blessed to get out of NY state without ever encountering a Parkway.

I was grateful that every trucker thanked me after I let them over.

I was thankful that every weigh station was closed.

I was relieved that there was no holiday traffic.

I was thankful my truck didn't break down.

I was grateful to be driving toward my family.

I am blessed to be driving westward.

The nightly sunsets on the wide open road are my reward.

Long days and all, I am grateful for this experience!

  3. Wow, it sounds like you most definitely had a long day! It's wonderful that you made a list of all the things to be grateful for, though. Isn't it funny how we are so grateful for someone else being grateful for us? It makes my day to let someone over while driving and have them thank me! It's the little things, I guess.

Sunsets truly are our reward. I believe that 100% which is why I named my blog Life is a Sunset. It's beautifully painted each day by Mother Nature as a gift to us and as a time to reflect! Such a great post... thanks for this!
