if you really knew me

you'd know that...

This picture was taken the day after I found out I was pregnant this past summer

I've become a HUGE homebody over the past year and proudly own this change

I haven't cleaned my shower in a disgusting amount of time

I've kissed the Blarney Stone

I'd rather watch sports with the guys than gossip with the ladies

When I mop, I break out in a sweat b/c that's how out of shape I really am these days

I have an extremely unhealthy relationship with a family member of mine

I hate having attention on me. Even the slightest bit makes me uncomfortable

I despise talking on the phone

My college best friend/roommate's dad was a director on Star Trek, CSI and Charmed

One of my favorite things in life is a drunk Bryan

I have bad alleries and asthma

I could never be best friends with someone who doesn't use the eff word

I once had my belly button pierced

If you're a Californian I automatically feel close to you

Bryan always drives when we're in the car together

I had a thing for drowning at parties as a little girl and my dad jumped in many pools to save me

Decorating my house is my favorite hobby

I form friendships authentically and am uninterested in having a slew of peripheral friends

If I'm your friend, I care deeply for you and want all good things to come your way

I'm one of the least judgmental people you'll ever meet -- mostly because I don't care enough to judge

I have a (stereotypically) masculine way of thinking, communicating and handling situations

I bite my nails down to practically nothing

I love to color in coloring books

I went to high school with Lauren Conrad's husband

I like to be alone. "Me time" centers me

I don't make my bed

I like all of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse theme songs *hangs head in shame*

I can instantly cry when thinking about my grandma

I've never smoked a cigarette

I was once approached in Santa Monica by a Sony Pictures producer to read for a part in a movie playing Jennifer Lopez's little sister

I could spend every minute of the day outside

I love to watch tv. It's easily my favorite pastime (which contradicts the above statement entirely)

I, as in myself, was hit by a car

I was much more excited to be married to Bryan than I was for my wedding day

I'm in awe over how quickly 2 people (us!) can go through an entire roll of toilet paper

I love salt, so much so that it hinders my health

I don't fully think through or analyze big decisions. I make quick moves

I'm the messy one and Bryan is as neat as a pin

I never leave the house without any make up on

I'm totally self deprecating

I blow dry my hair about twice a month, if that. Air dry is where it's at!

I can't fly without someone telling me "ttp"

Old Blue Chair is my favorite song and the perfect depiction/metaphor of who I am, how I've lived and what I want out of my time here on earth

I almost named this blog Old Blue Chair :)

***

I challenge all of you moms, wives, caregivers, work-o-holics and loyal girlfriends to take some time to reflect on you. We often blog about everything under the sun except for our authentic selves.

Tell me:
Who are you in this moment in life? If I really knew YOU, what would I know?

happy halloween

This Halloween didn't go quite as planned. Trace was cutting a tooth and he was in excruciating pain. He kept his hands near his mouth, his face was full of red splotches and he just sobbed all day long. We  put on his costume, walked him up to our streets chili cook off and thought that seeing all of the kids running around might distract him. Wrong! He was so sad and just wanted his Mama. I don't remember the last time I held him for that long, haha!! He's always on the move, but not this day. This day Trace just wanted to be crying in Mama's arms. We brought him home to my parents to go to bed at 6:30pm and headed back out into the neighborhood. If there was ever a night that I could have used a drink, it was this one, but yeah... not an option. So I watched Bryan do jello shots with neighbors, we chatted with some friends we hadn't seen in a while and walked our way up to our good friends house to chill with them for a bit. On our walk home we stopped down our street to socialize some more and then headed home when it started to sprinkle. Poor Trace didn't get a chance to trick-or-treat at all, but he did get a good nights sleep, which we're thankful for!

bump update - 16 weeks - round two

Due Date: April 13, 2015 (I'll have a scheduled c-section sometime between April 6th-10th)

Gender: Boy!

Movement: Yes! I felt the first "waves" of movement on Oct. 27... the same day I turned 16 weeks

Feeling: More excited than ever, now that we know the babies gender!

Food Cravings: I'm craving eeeeeverything under the sun! I had no food cravings last time, not even one, so to have a different intense craving everyday this go-round is really amusing to me... and yes, I'm indulging in every single craving, haha!! Mostly sweets, carbs, anything with red sauce (pasta, pizza, etc) and cereal... really healthy stuff ;)

Food Aversions: Fish, any Asian food, pickles, chicken, raw tomatoes

Clothes: I'm in all regular clothes, although they're definitely fitting more and more snug each day and some are giving me love handles. Some of my jeans I'm having to do the rubber band trick, whereas others button just fine -- depends on the cut and style. I've already started to wear a pair of under belly maternity jeans, mostly because I really love maternity jeans and how comfortable they are! But truthfully, I gaining weight more rapidly and really am showing so much quicker this go-round. I'd compare my 16 week belly to my 20 weeks belly with Trace, yikes!

Stretch Marks: Nope

Sleep: No problems here. I try to get at least 3 naps in per week and am getting about 8/8.5 hours of sleep each night... I'd love more, but that amount is working for me.

Symptoms: I'm vomiting still, especially after I get off of a plane and get to my car. I call it parking lot puke. Awesome, no?

What I Miss: eating salami, mass amounts of tuna and drinking alcohol. Also, my flat tummy that I worked so hard for this past summer, haha!

Best Moment: Finding out the baby's gender in Carolina Beach was magical, as was feeling his 1st movements the exact day I was 16 weeks!

Memorable Moment: Telling Trace that he's having a little brother - a best friend and playmate for life - was incredible for me... but he had no clue what we were telling him, haha!! Regardless, it was a moment that I'll remember forever. Also, I had very low expectations of our moms reactions to hearing that it was "another" boy, but much to my surprise my mom went nuts! She went crazier than she did when we told her about baby boy #1 and was so excited for us, but mostly for Trace. Her reaction was a total surprise to me! Cali on the other hand, not so thrilled ;)

a magical weekend away

Bryan and I escaped to the beach a couple weekends ago and were welcomed with perfect 80 degree weather! We really needed this getaway, as life has been too crazy lately and we just haven't been able to spend as much quality time together as we're used to. And to say that we're obsessed with Carolina Beach would be entirely correct -- this beach is so us and we're stoked we came across it!

Gorgeous sunset at dinner

We woke up early to watch the sunrise over the Atlantic from our hotel room balcony and to run down to the beach to take pictures of our big surprise of the weekend -- we found out we're having a boy... Brothers! Ahhhhhh, so exciting!!
