the evolution of our island

Building a home is quite an experience - good and bad, easy and hard. There are so many decisions to be made. Decisions of which are made in an awkward office building. Decisions of which you are unable to actually see until they're installed and it's already too late to change your mind. Decisions you have to live with. One last minute decision that we'll never regret is making our original 1 level flat kitchen island 2 levels.

We spend a lot of time around this island and finally put the finishing touches on it this past weekend, painting it a deep green to match our backsplash, kitchen table and overall color scheme.

This fresh and vibrant pop of color is exactly what our muted downstairs needed to add some life and personality to it.

I especially love the "Florida" hat sitting on the island in photo 7! I'm a Gator alumni (GO GATORS) ;)

Need some green & white towels? haha (okay, that's gross. i would never do that!) That green is in my kitchen color scheme right now and we're changing it to gray and mustard when we get married.
