weekend donut run

One thing we lack here in Charlotte are good mom & pop donuts shops. I'm not a huge fan of donuts, but was pleasently surprised when we found out that a donut shop recently opened up not too far from our house. Sunday morning we hopped in the car and headed out to Donut King!

We bought 1/2 dozen donuts -- chocolate sprinkles, red velvet with cheam cheese frosting, Boston cream pie and a traditional glazed. Oh. my. word... These donuts were the best donuts that I've ever eaten -- I'm dead serious! But we quickly realized how huge they were, so we called over our favorite girls to help us finish them off!

Before you know it a sugar high ensued and Bryan was having the time of his life playing in our backyard with them.

Can you tell we're ready for kids??? Baby boy can't get here fast enough...

  4. So funny that you post this!
I'm not a huge fan of sweets and never crave donuts BUT someone brought them to work this morning and as soon as I saw the chocolate with sprinkles I had to have it! I tried to blame it on Charlee but something tells me she didn't "need" it! lol

  6. Ohhh yum! We use to have a "mom and pop" shop in town that had wonderful homemade donuts, pastries and bagels. They were AMAZING - no comparison to Dunkin' Donuts, etc! That red velvet looks delish!!

  10. I have never heard of Donut king! Thanks for the link! We are all the time hitting up Krispy Kreme. SOOO happy they have the new one at Cotswold! BUT... not the same as a legit like old-school donut store. We'll have to check this out next time we're up by the lake! Gav loves donuts more than cupcakes or cake and always gets a KK donut tower instead of a birthday cake :)
