a letter to you

So I had a different post planned for today, but I had to put that on hold to thank you -- from the bottom of my heart -- for all of your uplifting, sweet and ridiculously supportive comments on my gender reveal post. It's moments like this that make me take a step back and realize how truly wonderful it is to be part of this blogging community.

I can't tell you how many times I teared up and even laughed at your comments. I know it sounds silly, but I love that some of you feel like you really know me even though we've never met. I feel that way about you too. And I got so much joy out of reading your reactions to the fact that I'm having a boy.

I really thought that my blog followers would drop dramatically once I announced I was pregnant. You know, like "Ooooh, she's going to turn into a mommy blog... Just what I don't want to read." But much to my surprise, my followers and daily readership has increased since my announcement!

For those of you wondering, my plan is for my blog to always primarily be about Bryan and I... but mostly about me, specifically, as it is now. I do not want my child's face plastered all over the internet consistently. Will he make appearances on the blog? Of course. And often. But not every post. My blog will not necessarily be about my son... it will be about me navigating through life, just as it always has been... and yes, parenthood will be part of that.

For now I'm focusing on all things boy. Any advice, recommendations, things you wish someone would have told you about parenting or raising a son, please share with me. Even though I don't know you... whether you have a son or a daughter, a neice or a nephew... I value your opinion.

Thank you again for making me want to blog... for making me want to share, and most importantly document, my life story. I appreciate all of you more now, than ever.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Now that I have an updated blog design I have included a page at the top of my blog titled "Ask." This should direct you to my formspring, so any questions you have for me ask away...

  1. We had a little boy in June, I had always thought I was such a girl person but having little boys are a blast! Yes bows and dresses are adorable...but little jeans, suspenders and bow ties, it doesn't get any better! Loving following your journey!

  2. Such a sweet note! Congratulations!

  3. I have 2 boys. So so sweet and loving. He will pee on you. Possibly in your mouth.

    1. Hahaha yes! I had one in July and this is true! Oh you can't have enough changing pad covers bc he will pee everywhere!

  4. I love it! :) I'm so excited to follow along on the journey! :)

  5. Well you know how stoked I am for you!!! I totally feel like we have been friends for a while and I have loved keeping up with your fun life. If you ever have any baby or boy questions, call me. There is so much crap you don't need when it comes to your baby registry. I contemplated doing a post on it but thought it would be annoying. Lol

  6. I love it because I am terrified of having a little boy because I know NOTHING about them. I am excited to see how you guys do it! Congrats again!

    Classy with a Kick

  7. Congrats Kate!! I didn't get to comment on your gender reveal post, but I'm so excited for you that you're having a boy. I showed my husband the way you revealed and he thought that was so cute!

  8. I am so excited to hear about this new adventure with the little baby boy!!

  9. Boys are fun! They love to get dirty and wrestle yet they still come running to you for a hug when they get a boo boo! As much as I would LOVE to be able to buy headbands and adorbes little leggings, shopping for sports jerseys, cargo shorts and matching Toms are just as fun. :) Plus I love that our next babe will have the "older brother" to protect them in high school.

Congrats and I'm excited to follow your journey!

  10. As the mom of two girls I've got no advice about little boys. LOL!!!

I can however tell you that I LOVE your blog and will continue reading it no matter what you post about. :)

Seriously though - I love reading about your work, your travels, fasion, home ideas, cooking. I think you do a GREAT job of covering it all and I'm always interested to see what's next.

  11. What a sweet post! Very excited to read about your journey ahead!

  12. Ummm I will be reding your blog till I am old and gray :-). You could write about doggie doo doo and I would still read!

I love hearing from you and always try to respond to your comments!
