a twist on the average baker's dozen

Back in January I talked about my love for Cupcake wine and my disdain for gimmicky named wines. Read here. Clearly I'm a hypocrite because now I'm loving Baker's Dozen pinot grigio, and you can't get more gimmicky than that, now can ya?

I'm not a big white wine drinker, but with temps topping 100 degrees, I've been determined to find a bottle that I not only like, but love. Initially this yellow plaid label combined with the words California and juicy caught my eye. Yellow, California and juicy - Why wouldn't I love this wine? And it was on sale. Win win, win win. I bought 2 bottles and headed home to pour myself a glass.

Much to my delight, I really enjoy this wine. It's extremely crisp and perfect on a hot summers day. Oddly enough, you can taste the grapes. I'm not sure I've ever actually tasted grapes in wine before, so this took me a bit off guard and I found myself pleasantly surprised.

Not only am I obsessed with the Baker's Dozen label and kind of want to frame it (weird, I know), but I definitely look forward to drinking more through the end of the summer.

  13. I am obsessed with Cupcake Red Velvet. It has been my 'go-to' for transitioning from white wine to red wine and I LOVE it. I used to be all about the Sauvignon Blanc, but wasn't a fan of the Cupcake version. I would probably have been sucked in by the yellow gingham label on this wine though as well, I'll have to give it a try!
