it's what's for dinner... trace's dinner

Ever since Trace turned 9 months old two weeks ago I've been experimenting a whole lot more with foods. His pediatrician gave me the 'go' to drop baby foods (once we use up everything I've made/froze) and to feed him whatever Bryan and I are eating for our meals. I'm happy to report that everything I put in front of Trace, with the exception of eggs, he gobbles up like nobody's business. And because Trace seems to like everything under the sun, I am constantly pushing boundaries and offering him foods that aren't traditionally known to be foods that 9 month old baby's eat. I feed him things like tilapia and black olives and I steam all of his vegetables. He enjoys everything plain -- I credit the homemade baby foods he's eaten since he was 6 months old -- so I don't feel the need to add any spices or oils to them. My little guy has quite a sophisticated pallet, of which I am so proud of!

Below is Trace's dinner from last night...

Clockwise from top:
red pepper
green pepper
carrots
asparagus
hummus
cheese
freeze dried mango
albacore tuna
blueberries
strawberries
kiwi

What are some of your kids favorite foods to eat that I should try?

  1. I despise cooking dinner at home. My poor little one - I am going to be looking at many a blog when trying to figure out what to feed her!

  3. Miller gave up purees at 7 months so we've been doing finger foods since then. I still have to be careful with some food because he loves to shove a ton of it in his mouth at once and keep in his cheeks. I'm not amused by that so I still rip a lot of his food up into tiny pieces haha.
He absolutely will not let me spoon feed him so oatmeal and yogurt are out right now unless I let him feed himself. Miller eats: whole grain waffles, bananas, mangos, cantelope, blueberries, baked pototes, black beans, grnd turkey, mac & cheese, mozzarella, broccoli, green beans, avocado, hummus, chicken. That's all I can think of right now. We haven't tried fish and we're staying away from the allergy foods until 1yr because my mom has an anaphylactic peanut allergy and a few other bad food allergies so we just want to be safe.

  4. I'm the same with you. I feed her everything. She LOVES black olives! She also love edamame. The word of advice I was given and will share with you is to keep giving him things that he may not like.
Kids change day to day. Some days Shelby doesn't like eggs, the next day she is gobbling them. I even give her salad now!!
My whole thing is - if we eat good, so will she :)
