bump update: week 37

As another week goes by I continue to constantly wonder when he'll make his debut. As swollen and sore as my feet are, I'm trying to move a lot more, I've started to walk this baby out and am devouring things like pineapple... I'm just totally ready to see progression at my next appointment. I've secretly made a pact with him -- he can stay in me as long as he needs, but he must be a complete angel (sleeper, eater, etc) when he arrives. If he's not going to be an angel, then he must come early. Wonder if he gets how serious I am about this?! My biggest fear right now is that I still have a month and will be induced at 41 weeks, having a 4th of July baby and dealing with the overwhelming heat and humity that is slowly creeping in on us in the south...

Due Date: June 28, 2013

Gender: Boy!

Movement: His movement has decreased significantly. I don't feel him move often, but when I do, it is large movements, as if his whole body is stretching (this freaks Bryan out to no end!). I also feel him when his head pings my cervix and OMG... it feels like a lightening bolt shooting into my who-ha. Thanks little guy, thanks...

Feeling: Ultimately, I feel great! I have normal symptoms, but nothing that's rocking my world too much. I'm really starting to anticipate going into labor and it's causing me a great deal of anxiety. Will my water break while I'm out in public? Will my contractions begin in the middle of the night? Will I go into labor on a day that I haven't washed my hair or showered? Are we prepared for the hospital? Does Bryan really grasp what is about to go down?? Cali... leaving Cali......

Food Cravings: I still haven't rushed out to the store or sent Bryan out for anything last minute

Food Aversions: v8, salmon, soup

Clothes: I'm still rocking a mix of maternity and non-maternity clothes. The clothes I'm wearing in these pictures are a pre-pregnancy tank and maxi skirt. I'm still in non-maternity yoga pants/capri's, but all of my shorts and jeans are definitely maternity and have been for a long while! At this late stage, I feel very lucky to still fit into all of my jeans comfortably.

Stretch Marks: None... yet

Sleep: Sleep is going great! I'm not achy or sore in bed, I don't need extra pillows for support and I'm able to cuddle with Bryan and Cali again. I'm still waking up to pee 1-2 times/night, but I fall right back to sleep, so it's not bothersome. I have noticed that I'm unable to sleep past 7:00am and prefer to be in bed earlier and earlier. We had lights/tv off and were snoozing by 9:45pm the other night.

Symptoms: my symptoms are so different now that I'm at the end of my pregnancy -- nerve pain down the right side of my back and into my right my thigh, sharp shooting pains into my who-ha that take my breath away and bring me to my knees, when I overdo it I feel like the baby is going to split out of the bottom of my belly, baby is low, frequent urination, great skin (no acne), super low energy, tailbone pain, light heartburn, carrying on the right/lopsided, hand and feet swelling is intense these days (it's so bad that my doctor recommended compression socks)

What I Miss: I'm noticing that I'm not missing the "typical" things that most women miss toward the end of their pregnancies -- drinking alcohol, sleeping on my stomach/back, pre-pregnancy wardrobe/body -- I just don't miss any of it. I really only miss being able to eat salami, which is ubber weird, I know!

Best Moment: My parents arrival!

Memorable Moment:

36w3d - Swing - Bryan put the babies swing together and it's so cute, just chillin' in our family room, ready for our little guy to come home
36w4-5d - Home Gym - The last of our gym equipment machines was delivered and cable was installed in our garage... I will have no excuse not to get back into shape!
36w5d - My Parents Arrival - After months and months of planning and discussions, my parents made their cross-country drive from CA to us... and are ready for their 3rd grandchild's arrival!
37 weeks - Appointment - his heart beat is 150bpm, my blood pressure and proteins are good, ob could feel his head, not dilated, my cervix is thinning, I gained no weight this week (that's a first)

I want to add that although some things like talking about my symptoms might come off negatively, I assure you that I am including all of these details solely for my personal documentation. I am not ever complaining about being pregnant and what comes along with it. Although uncomfortable symptoms, food aversions and getting weirded out by the babies movement is all a reality for me, I feel very fortunate to be able to experience this and have truly enjoyed toting this guy around for the past 37 weeks. There's nothing more cool than getting to spend my all-day-every-day with him!

  1. Just some advice from experience... keep emergency supplies in your vehicle just in case you are one of the "lucky" few who has their water break in public!! The one time we went slightly out of town to eat was when I was lucky enough to have my water break "gush" style in the restaurant and we were NOT prepared! Looking back I definitely wish we had towels and extra clothes tucked away in the car for this possibility!! Enjoy your last few weeks! Can't wait to see the little guy! :)

  2. You look great! I hope he comes soon. The humidity is high here in MD...I can't imagine being 37 weeks right now! Glad your mom and dad made it. And what in the world is a "crenshaw" melon???

  3. Don't apologize for documenting your journey. You are allowed to feel however you want! You look great and the big day will be here before you know it. One thing that surprised me is that less than 15% of women's water breaks before labor. My doctor had to break mine about 10 hours into my labor. I totally expected it to happen out in public -- which can happen, but it's rare.

  4. Well, giving that I went to 41-weeks I have no words of encouragement. The last few weeks creep by for sure! :( I ate whatever the heck my heart desired at the very end.
French fries, milk shakes.. you name it. LOL! You're looking great!

  5. Not too much longer! Once you have him being pregnant will be a distant memory. My baby is only 3 weeks old and I look at pictures of me at 39 weeks and cannot believe my belly was that big. I've already forgotten what it's like to be pregnant!

  6. Well you still look fantastic!

And we lived half a country away from our parents for the arrival of our last two and them coming to visit was always my favorite part of the deal :)

  9. First off, you are beautiful pregnant. Second off my water broke while I was asleep. When I first awoke at 9am I thought I had peed the bed...gross...but nope, water broke. I had washed my hair the night before and DID NOT straighten it out of pure laziness, needless to say I looked homeless in labor and delivery...either way we have a beautiful baby girl so it's all good :)

  10. You look so amazing! I hope for your sake that little man cooperates and shows up soon! The end is so hard and I know from experience that you feel the need to express how grateful and happy you are to justify the not-so-fun parts...but sometimes it just plain sucks! And sometimes you just need to vent or cry or throw a little fit! At least I did! ;)

  13. You look ah-mazing girlfriend! You definitely are not coming across negative, so no worries there. In fact, you are the complete opposite! I'm so glad to hear you are able to sleep ok. I've heard a lot of horror stories about difficulties sleeping, especially so late in the game!

  16. I appreciate how honest you are in documenting your pregnancy. Haters gonna hate and you are allowed to post what ever you want.
It's really cool to read about symptoms, etc. ...gives me ideas and a peak into what pregnancy might be like for me years down the road.
    Yay for parents arriving!!

  17. You look great!! Enjoy your sleep mine has been horrible lately- I think it's because my anxiety level is getting higher in addition to being uncomfortable. Ps- I don't think you're being negative at all, they're aren't really any fun pregnancy symptoms besides the baby moving :)

  19. If it's any consolation about having a July 4th baby, my birthday is July 3rd and I absolutely love it! I always have the day after my birthday off of work, school, etc and I usually just make a 4 day weekend out of it. :)
